As a music educator, Shannon is sought after as a voice teacher, vocal coach, early childhood music teacher and director of children's musical theater.
Shannon has served on the faculty at the Holy Name Conservatory of Music for seven years, where she maintains a voice studio for students 2nd-8th grade, with each semester culminating in a studio recital of solo and ensemble performances. Shannon is also on faculty as a voice teacher and childrens' yoga instructor at the San Francisco Youth Chorus. Shannon recently joined the faculty as a teaching artist with Young Imaginations, a non-profit organization which delivers somatics based music and movement classes to underserved elementary schools in Marin county.
Shannon directed the Children's Musical Theatre class at Mira Loma Elementary for two years and she maintains a studio for private client voice lessons in San Francisco's Inner Sunset district where she offers lessons for kids, teens and adults. Lessons for Kids 7-12:
I believe that music should be something one enjoys for a lifetime and it is my goal to develop your child’s unique musical talent and life-long love of music in a fun, relaxed and encouraging environment. I approach lessons from a holistic standpoint, teaching singing and performance principles along with basic musicianship and music theory skills. Research has shown that music education enhances memory, listening skills, logic and spatial intelligence. Additionally, music provides kids with a means of self-expression and a framework for building self-esteem in the pursuit of excellence. My students have appeared in public recitals, student productions and have gained entry into the San Francisco Girls Chorus.
